Western Swing (CEZ4356)
Somewhere between country and jazz, Western swing is a very particular style. Born in the 20's, it really began to take off in the 40's with the advent of electric instruments, and remained popular especially in the Southern states of the U.S. in the 60's. The pedal steel guitar, derived from its Hawaiian ancestor, plays a vital role. There are clear traces of jazz manouche. It is worthy of note that the only music broadcast from the surface of the moon was a Western swing song : "San Antonio Rose" by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys.
